A reader sent me an email, mentioning that they found the Merge node in Nuke to be unintuitive.  It's true that the Merge node contains a lot of dropdown menus that could confuse newcomers to Nuke.  In this tutorial I go through the menus, trying to place the different commands in context for compositors.

The thing to keep in mind is that Nuke contains a robust channel manipulation toolset, and the Merge node can take full advantage of this.  While this gives Nuke a lot of power, it can also be confusing to someone who is new to Nuke.  Hopefully this tutorial will clear things up.
