Yesterday Adobe and Maxon (makers of Cinema 4D) announced that they would be entering a 'strategic alliance'. Steve Forde, the product manager of After Effects wrote a blog post on it here. Interesting times. This means that the two dominant compositing packages have joined up with a independent 3D company. Very curious what 3D features will filter down to comp. Will it just be a 'send to modo/Cinema 4D' button in the comp packages, or will it be more substantial? Would love to get the modo renderer in Nuke.
